Aquatic Bliss Care Guide
Helpful guidance for healthy, thriving fish.
At Aquatic Bliss, we believe great fishkeeping starts with stable conditions, good preparation, and species-appropriate care. This guide provides general advice to help you give your fish the best possible start.
Please note: This guide is intended as general guidance only. Care requirements can vary by species, age, source, and aquarium setup. If you are unsure, please contact us before purchasing.
1. Water Quality Comes First
Good water quality is the foundation of fish health. Even the best fish will struggle if water conditions are unstable or unsuitable.
- Always ensure the aquarium is fully cycled before adding fish
- Keep ammonia and nitrite at 0
- Maintain stable temperature and water parameters
- Carry out regular water changes as needed
2. Acclimation Matters
New fish should be introduced carefully to reduce stress and avoid sudden changes in temperature or water chemistry.
- Float the sealed bag to equalise temperature
- Add small amounts of aquarium water gradually
- Transfer fish gently
- Do not add transport water to the aquarium
3. Feeding & Nutrition
A varied, appropriate diet is essential for long-term health, growth, colour, and condition.
- Feed the correct food for the species kept
- Offer variety where appropriate
- Feed small sensible amounts
- Remove uneaten food where necessary
4. Suitable Aquarium Setup
Fish need an environment that matches their species requirements, not just any available tank.
- Provide suitable tank size
- Use appropriate filtration and flow
- Include hiding places, cover, or caves where needed
- Consider substrate type, decor, and oxygen levels
5. Compatibility
Not all fish are suitable to live together. Temperament, adult size, feeding style, and water requirements all matter.
- Research compatibility before mixing species
- Avoid overcrowding
- Be cautious with aggressive or territorial fish
- Consider group size for social species
6. Observation & Early Action
Healthy fish should show normal behaviour, hold condition well, and respond appropriately to food and their environment.
- Observe fish daily
- Watch for signs of stress, illness, or bullying
- Check feeding response
- Act early if something seems wrong
7. Quarantine
Where possible, quarantine new fish before introducing them to an established aquarium. This helps protect both new arrivals and existing stock.
- Use a separate quarantine setup where possible
- Observe fish closely before moving them into the main tank
- Monitor feeding, behaviour, and condition
8. Ask Before You Buy
If you are unsure about tank size, compatibility, water conditions, or care requirements, it is always best to ask before purchasing.
We are happy to help guide you toward the right choice for your setup.
9. Important Reminder
Fish are living animals and may react differently to transport, environment, tank mates, and water conditions. Stability, patience, and proper preparation are key to long-term success.
