The Black Rili Shrimp (Neocaridina davidi) is a striking freshwater shrimp, featuring a unique combination of deep black markings and translucent body sections. Their eye-catching pattern makes each shrimp slightly different, creating a beautiful and natural look in planted aquariums. Hardy, peaceful and easy to care for, they are an excellent choice for both beginners and experienced shrimp keepers.

Black Rili Shrimp thrive in mature aquariums with stable water parameters, plenty of mosses, plants and hiding places. They spend their day grazing on biofilm, algae and decaying plant matter, helping to keep the aquarium clean while adding constant activity and interest. Supplementing their natural diet with quality shrimp foods and occasional blanched vegetables will keep them healthy and encourage strong colouration.

These social shrimp are best kept in groups, where they will breed readily under the right conditions. Their peaceful nature also makes them ideal companions for small, non-aggressive fish and other shrimp species, although they should not be mixed with other Neocaridina colour varieties if you wish to maintain a pure Black Rili line.
