Clown Killifish

Epiplatys annulatus

The Clown Killifish is a tiny, eye-catching surface dweller, loved for its bold black-and-cream bands and colourful, flag-like tail. Peaceful, curious and full of character, they make a beautiful addition to a calm, heavily planted aquarium.

They are best kept in a group, ideally with more females than males, and feel most secure among floating plants and gentle cover near the surface. A tightly fitted lid is essential, as these little fish are excellent jumpers.

Clown Killifish prefer gentle filtration and calm tank mates that will not outcompete them at feeding time. Their small mouths require suitably sized foods such as crushed flakes, micro-pellets, baby brine shrimp, daphnia and other tiny live or frozen foods.
