Duplicareus Cory (Hoplisoma duplicareum)

The Duplicareus Cory (Hoplisoma duplicareum) is a stunning and peaceful South American catfish, prized for its bold black dorsal marking, distinctive eye mask, and shimmering silver body with a subtle golden sheen. Often mistaken for the Adolfo’s Cory, the Duplicareus can be identified by the prominent black blotch beneath the dorsal fin and its slightly more robust build.

A true shoaling species, these active little catfish thrive in groups and spend their day exploring the aquarium together, constantly searching the substrate for food. Their gentle nature makes them an excellent choice for peaceful community aquariums.

Provide a soft sandy substrate to protect their delicate barbels, along with plenty of plants, wood, and shaded areas to help them feel secure. Regular water changes and good water quality are essential to keep them healthy and displaying their best colours.
