Hoplisoma rikbaktsa – CW154
Hoplisoma rikbaktsa, formerly known as Corydoras rikbaktsa, is a beautiful and still relatively uncommon species from the Rio Juruena drainage of the Tapajós River basin in Mato Grosso, Brazil. It was only scientifically described in 2020 and was moved into the genus Hoplisoma following the major Corydoradinae revision.
A peaceful, social species that should be kept in a group, ideally 6 or more, where they will display much more natural and confident behaviour. Their attractive patterning and manageable adult size make them a lovely choice for a well-maintained community aquarium or dedicated Cory setup.

Diet: Omnivorous. Offer a varied diet of quality sinking granules and tablets alongside frozen or live foods such as bloodworm, brine shrimp and other small aquatic foods.

As with other Cory-type catfish, provide a fine sand substrate, good filtration and clean, well-oxygenated water. Plenty of shaded areas, plants, wood and leaf litter will help them feel secure while leaving open areas for the group to forage together.
Aquatic Bliss tip: Extremely rare, Rikbaktsa are naturally social fish, so we recommend keeping them in a proper group rather than singly or in pairs. Watching a settled group forage and interact is a huge part of their appeal.
