L136 Demini Pleco – Hypancistrus sp. L136
A beautiful and relatively uncommon Hypancistrus from the Rio Demini, Brazil, L136 is recognised by its dark body covered in contrasting pale/white spots. Spot size and pattern can vary considerably between individuals, which historically led to forms being labelled L136a, L136b and L136c.
Generally peaceful and well suited to a community of similarly sized fish, L136 appreciates plenty of caves, wood and rocky hiding places. Males can become territorial around preferred breeding caves, particularly when mature.

Diet: Omnivorous with a preference for protein-rich foods. Offer quality sinking pleco foods alongside frozen foods such as brine shrimp, insect larvae and other meaty foods.

Like most Hypancistrus, they thrive in clean, warm, highly oxygenated water with good filtration and regular water changes. Provide several suitably sized caves if keeping more than one specimen.
Aquatic Bliss tip: L136 can vary noticeably in spot size and density, so individual fish may look slightly different – part of the appeal of this striking L-number.
