L201 Orinoco Angel Pleco (Hypancistrus sp.) – Tank Bred
The L201 Orinoco Angel Pleco is a stunning Hypancistrus species, instantly recognisable by its jet-black body covered in crisp cream to golden-white spots. Peaceful, hardy and full of character, they make an excellent choice for both dedicated pleco keepers and well-maintained community aquariums.
Our L201s are tank bred, making them well adapted to aquarium life and an excellent alternative to wild-caught specimens. They are naturally shy, spending much of the day resting in caves before becoming more active after lights out.
Although sometimes referred to as the Orinoco Angel Pleco, they are a true Hypancistrus species and thrive in clean, warm, highly oxygenated water with plenty of water movement. They are not algae eaters and should be fed a varied, protein-rich diet including quality sinking carnivore pellets, frozen foods, Repashy, and occasional live foods.

Aquatic Bliss Tip: Provide several tight-fitting pleco caves and pieces of bogwood. While peaceful with other fish, males can become territorial over caves, making multiple hiding places essential if keeping more than one.
