Black Venezuelan Cory
Osteogaster schultzei ‘Black’
The Black Venezuelan Cory is a striking dark variety, loved for its deep charcoal-to-black colouring, subtle bronze sheen and lively personality. Their rich colour becomes even more impressive once settled, especially against pale sand and lush green planting.
Peaceful and highly social, they should be kept in a group of at least six, although a larger group will encourage more confident and natural behaviour. A soft sand substrate is recommended so they can safely rummage and sift without damaging their delicate barbels.
They are an excellent choice for a peaceful community aquarium and enjoy open floor space alongside plants, wood and shaded resting areas. Feed a varied diet of quality sinking foods with frozen or live foods, ensuring they receive their own meals rather than relying on leftovers.
