The Blue Phantom Pleco is a stunning and highly sought-after species, displaying beautiful blue-white spots across a deep blue, charcoal or almost black body. Its striking colouration becomes even more impressive once settled into a well-maintained aquarium.
Blue Phantoms appreciate spacious aquariums with strong filtration, high oxygen levels and plenty of water movement. Provide smooth rocks, bogwood and secure caves where the fish can rest during the day. They are generally peaceful with other fish but may become territorial towards similar bottom-dwelling species, particularly around preferred hiding places.
Despite sometimes being sold as an algae eater, the Blue Phantom requires a varied diet. Offer quality sinking pleco foods, algae wafers, vegetables and occasional protein-rich frozen or dried foods.
