L411 Monte Dourado Pleco
Hypancistrus sp. L411
The Monte Dourado Pleco is a rare and striking Hypancistrus species, displaying an intricate pattern of pale, winding lines over a dark body. Often compared with the Queen Arabesque Pleco, the L411 develops its own distinctive appearance as it matures and makes a beautiful feature fish for a well-maintained pleco aquarium.
Generally peaceful and shy, it appreciates plenty of caves, shaded areas and natural cover. More than one can be kept together where sufficient space and individual caves are provided, although mature males may become territorial when breeding.
L411s prefer warm, clean and highly oxygenated water with good flow. Their diet should be mainly protein-based, including quality sinking carnivore pellets, insect-based foods and occasional frozen foods. A little vegetable matter can also be offered, particularly to younger fish.
