Sterbai Cory

Hosplisoma sterbai

The Sterbai Cory is a beautifully patterned and much-loved species, recognised by its dark body covered in pale spots and its warm orange-tinted pectoral fins. Their bold markings, gentle nature and lively foraging behaviour make them a wonderful addition to a peaceful tropical aquarium.

Highly social, they should be kept in a group of at least six, with larger groups encouraging more confident and natural behaviour. A soft sand substrate is recommended so they can safely sift through the bottom without damaging their delicate barbels.

Sterbai Corys enjoy a well-established aquarium with plenty of open floor space, plants, wood and shaded resting areas. They prefer warmer conditions than many other Cory species, making them a good choice for warmer community setups. Feed a varied diet of quality sinking foods alongside frozen or live foods, ensuring they receive their own meals rather than relying on leftovers.

Approximate adult size: 6–7 cm
